Spanish singer plagiarizes from Super Junior

A Spanish singer / artist is receiving a lot of Latino heat after a clever netizen discovered that he plagiarized the song "U" from Super Junior. This news was originally posted on the HATO fan club, which is a fan club for Latin American / Spanish Super Junior fans.
“There is a music festival called Eurovision Song Contest. This is a contest of sorts where all the European (and even some Asian) countries send their best contestants with brand new songs to represent their respective countries.

It’s a great contest, believe me. I've followed this contest for the past 8 years and what I’m about to say is something that I still can't believe.

In Spain, they had an open internet poll to choose their favorite contestant in the Eurovision Song Contest. More than 455 songs were uploaded to a web page and all the people (not just Spanish people) voted for their favorites. I was voting for all the ones I liked when I found out something so disgusting, so humiliating for all of us ELF.

It’s the instrumental version of U with lyrics from another singer. That’s not fair at all! He broke one of the most important rules: to make a full original (lyrics and music) song.

Eurovision-spain.com, the official Spanish fanbase of the Eurovision Song Contest wrote something about this after I reported the plagiarism, this is their response: 

"We are disappointed about this news. Adriel's Solo Un Segundo was published around October 2008. He broke our contest rules by using the instrumental version of "U", a hit song from Korean Boyband Super Junior which was published in 2006. In response to our inquiry, Adriel admitted that he used the instrumental version of "U" because of lack of time and that he will now remake the song."

Lee-teuk visited Son Jae-hee

Son Jae-hee was diagnosed with brain cancer on her birthday in 2007. She underwent two operations and 10 chemotherapy treatments and became much better; so much so that she appeared on the SBS variety program.

However, in December 2008, Son Jae-hee’s health took a turn for the worse. The tumor is back and it is spreading.

Super Junior’s Lee-teuk, who played the keyboard for little Jae-hee during her Star King appearance, visited the girl recently. He left her a personal message in an autographed CD.

Lee-teuk isn’t the only one who has visited Jae-hee. Kang Ho-dong dropped in on Jae-hee on Dec 23 last year. His visit was recorded for a Star King episode. Check out the clip below…before it is yanked off the Net.

Band of Brothers

SuJu’s Heechul and Kangin along with Trax’s Jay and Jungmo are the Band of Brothers, one of SM Entertainment’s (SME) side projects.

Band of Brothers came together for a showcase at Hongik University on Jan 13 at 5pm. It was recorded for Mnet. The quartet had been practising for the showcase for the past three months.

Heechul banged on the drums while Kangin played a mean riff on bass. Meanwhile, Jay serenaded the crowd while Jungmo strummed the guitar.

The showcase will be aired on the Mnet channel on Jan 23.

Kim Heechul is more comfortable kissing boys

Super Junior member Kim Hee-chul (25) revealed in an ETN reality show recently that he will save his first kiss (to a girl) for his future wife. Heechul expressed that he feels uncomfortable when the director of the musical Xanadu asked him to do a kissing scene with a female actress. But we all know that Heechul has no problems kissing fellow Super Junior member Sungmin on stage. 

There are so many Super Junior boys that it is hard to keep track of their activities. Each of them are busy with their own projects and occassionally come together as a group which makes the fans super happy.

Heechul and Kangin have landed themselves roles in a musical entitled Xanadu. In the ETN reality show To be Kangin and Heechul, you will see both Kangin and Heechul's preparations for the above-mentioned musical.

Xanadu will be playing in Seoul, September 9th - 11th 2008.

Super Junior Lee Teuk masquerades as a catwalk model

While two of his bandmates, Kang-in and Kim Hee-chul are keeping busy performing in the Korean production of Xanadu, this member is making some extra cash, being a catwalk model. 

While his friends were busy, Lee Teuk was seen at designer Park Jung Chul's 09 S/S Seoul Collection. The fashion show was held at Seoul's SETEC on the 18th October. Lee Teuk was one of the main models!

Korean production of XANADU releases OST

The Korean production of the broadway musical Xanadu will be releasing the OST today (15 Oct). Super Junior members Kang-in and Kim Hee Chul appear in the musical; they are both currently performing in the show. You will be able to download the OST from Korean Online music sites and enjoy Xanadu tracks like Suddenly and Don't Walk Away in Korean! 

Both Kangin and Hee Chul play the lead role Sonny who falls for the immortal goddess Kira. So Kangin is Hee Chul's understudy and vice versa. ;-) They take turns.

April 19 car accident

On April 19, 2007 at 12:20 am KST,[59] Super Junior and two of the group's managers became victims of a car accident. The driver lost control of the vehicle and the van flipped over on its right side, colliding with the sidewalk.[60]

Kyuhyun, who was sitting behind the driver's seat when the accident occurred, was severely injured with a fractured hip, pneumothorax from broken ribs, and deep scratches and bruises.[59][61] Leeteuk had severe facial scratches, and had to receive stitches. He had a successful operation removing the glass shards on his back, and received a total of 170 stitches on both his back and face.[62][63]

Shindong and Eunhyuk, the least injured with only a few cuts, scratches, and bruises, were both discharged on April 23, 2007.[64] Leeteuk and Kyuhyun recovered faster than expected,[65] and Leeteuk was discharged from the hospital on April 30, 2007.[66] Kyuhyun was discharged two months later on July 5, 2007.

Super Junior- Happy

Super Junior-Happy (Korean: 슈퍼주니어-해피), sometimes referred to as SJ-Happy or Suju-Happy (Korean: 슈주-해피), is the fourth official sub-unit of Korean boy band Super Junior established in June 2008. Super Junior-Happy contains six Super Junior members, Leeteuk (the leader), Yesung, Kang-in, Shindong, Sungmin, and Eunhyuk.

By 2008, all of the Super Junior members have already been a member of at least one subgroup except Kibum. Super Junior-Happy consists of every previous member from Super Junior-T except Heechul, who is replaced by Yesung. Super Junior-Happy made an unofficial debut performance on May 3, 2008 at the Power Concert although they had not formally introduced themselves as the subgroup at the time.

On May 30, 2008, SM Entertainment released the official announcement of the subgroup through Newsen. The subgroup's first EP, Cooking? Cooking!, was released on June 5, 2008. The music video of their first single, "Cooking? Cooking!" was released on that same day.[1]

Super Junior-Happy debuted on June 7, 2008, performing their first single, "Cooking? Cooking!" at the 2008 Dream Concert. On the day before their debut, the subgroup held their first sign fan meeting to celebrate the success of the sales of Cooking? Cooking! On the morning of June 6, over thousands of fans lined up for tickets to the fan meet, overcrowding the streets. [2] Close to 10,000 copies were sold by the first week of release. According to the Music Industry Association of Korea, the EP sold 20,978 by the end of June and was ranked fifth in the monthly charts.[3]

Super Junior-Happy performed their second single, "Pajama Party" on August 3, 2008 on SBS's Popular Songs. The music video was released on August 4, 2008. "Pajama Party" promotions only lasted a month, and promotions for the EP officially ended on September 7, 2008.

Super Junior-Happy's music style involves the common style of contemporary dance music and bubblegum pop, mainly targeting the music industry with their fun and entertaining style. Super Junior-Happy's debut single, "Cooking? Cooking!" is a dance track with refreshing rhythm and quirky lyrics. Their goal is to give fans feelings of bliss and happiness with their music.

Super Junior- K.R.Y.

Super Junior K.R.Y, created in late 2006, is a trio formed by Super Junior members Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung. The label discovered that these three members developed a particular persona and subsequent fan-base that was separate from the rest of the group, and how they also had similar musical qualities. The label therefore grouped these three members together to perform particular songs to target a particular audience. Being amongst the most vocally powerful members of Super Junior, Super Junior-K.R.Y are credited to singing mournful ballads, a style that has proven very popular in recent years although stagnation in the style's development is causing it to lose its once fresh evocative power. 
K.R.Y's first official performance was on November 5, 2006 on KBS's Music Bank.They have participated in the original soundtrack of the tvN drama Hyena with a total of three tracks, including the main theme. The trio also contributed tracks in two additional original soundtracks, one track in both the soundtracks of Snow Flower and Billy Jean Look at Me. Unlike Super Junior's other sub-units, K.R.Y has not officially released a single or album, only participating in collaboration albums and original soundtracks.

Super Junior-Trot (Korean: 슈퍼주니어-트로트), officially known as Super Junior-T (Korean: 슈퍼주니어-티) is the second official sub-unit of Korean boy band Super Junior, established in February 2007. They are one of the few new generation singers known to have been capitalizing trot music, the oldest form of Korean pop music. Super Junior-T contains six Super Junior members, Leeteuk (the leader), Heechul, Kang-in, Shindong, Sungmin, and Eunhyuk.

Super Junior-T has released only one single in the short span of their career before they were announced to be on hiatus in 2008. The single "Rokuko" was Korea's sixteenth best-selling record and the number one best-selling single of 2007, according to the Music Industry Association of Korea.

Suju-Japan

From July 8 to July 9, 2008, Super Junior made their first official appearance as a group in Japan, holding their first Japan fanmeeting in the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo as a celebration for the grand opening of their official Japanese Homepage that was opened on April 1, 2008.[55] 12,000 tickets to the fanmeeting were all sold out. Although Super Junior has never held activities in Japan, the decision for the group to appear in the renowned Nippon Budokan was rare and became an interesting event to notice.[55] The group released a compiled Japan single the following day, entitled "U/TWINS", which includes the Japanese version of "U" in the limited release, to complement the event. The single peaked at #4 on Japan's Oricon Daily Chart in its first day of release, and dropped down to only four places in its second. The single broke a new record for being the first Korean single to have made within top 10 on Japan's Oricon Weekly Chart.[56]

On November 5, 2008, Super Junior-T released their first Japanese single, "ROCK&GO" in Japan, with the support and featuring of Japanese comemdy duo, Moeyan. The collaboration was the duo's official debut as singers and Super Junior-T's entrance in the Japanese market.[39] The single debuted at #19 on the Oricon Daily Charts[57] and jumped to #2 three days later.

Suju-Taiwan

Super Junior's first visit to Taiwan was on June 16, 2007 as guest performers and presenters for the Golden Melody Awards. They presented the Best Vocal Group and Best Performance Album awards.[48]. They also performed the songs "U" and "Miracle" at the awards ceremony.

Super Junior's visit to Taiwan helped increase the sales figures of Don't Don which was released in Taiwan on October 19, 2007. It is the highest ranked Korean album on the G-music Combo Billboard Chart, surpassing the albums of TVXQ and Shinhwa. Super Junior's album also ranked above Taiwanese boy band K One, whose album debuted at #6.[49][50] The album peaked at #1 in Taiwan's Five Music J-pop/K-pop Chart and the G-music J-pop Chart in Taiwan within the first week of release.[51][52]

Super Junior visited Taiwan a second time on January 5, 2008 for Taiwan's "Music in Harmony" concert as a beginning step to have a closer approach to the Chinese market. They performed in the concert along with Taiwan's Show Luo and Energy. Korea's Baby Vox Re.V and PARAN were also invited to perform. Popularity won Super Junior to have over 500 fans welcoming them at Taiwan's airport.[53] Super Junior-M's first Chinese-language album, Me, was released on May 2, 2008 in Taiwan, and it debuted on the charts as #2, with only Sodagreen's new release above theirs.

Suju-Mainland China

In April 2006, Super Junior's Chinese member Han Geng, visited China for the first time since his debut to promote the group. Since then, he and the rest of Super Junior continuously visited China. On June 12, 2006 Super Junior made their debut performance as a group in China performing "U" and "Miracle". After filming the Chinese film A Battle of Wits in 2006, Siwon made frequent visits to China to promote the film. Along with the rest of the cast of the film, he toured four cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.[45] On August 8, 2007, Han Geng and Siwon traveled to Changsha to participate in a variety show, being one of the first K-pop idols to appear on Chinese variety shows.

The group released a Mandarin version of "U" on June 15, 2007 and various sources have stated that the group will release a Chinese language album.[47] However instead of the entire group, a subgroup was created for the market instead. On April 8, 2008, Super Junior-M, a subgroup that is specifically designed for the Chinese music industry, debuted with their first music video, "U". The subgroup's debut album, Me, was released in different regions of Mainland China starting April 23, 2008. The Korean version of the album which has three bonus Korean tracks, was released in South Korea on April 30, 2008. Suju-Thailand

Super Junior made their first overseas performance in Thailand on March 9, 2006 at the Pattaya International Music Festival.[42] In effect of the appearance, their single with TVXQ, "Show Me Your Love," moved up to #8 on Thailand's Channel [V] Music Chart.[42] Soon afterwards, "Miracle" debuted as #1 in the charts on March 21, 2006. "Miracle" was the second song produced by SM Entertainment that topped overseas music charts in Thailand of Channel V after TVXQ's "Rising Sun." The song stayed as #1 for four consecutive weeks.[12] The group's second single for SMTown, "Full of Happiness" (행복) debuted as #18 on Thailand's International Channel [V] Music Chart on the week of July 29, 2007. The single jumped to #8 the week after, and on the third week the single advanced to #1.[43] Aside the International Channel [V] Music Chart, which it was #1 for six consecutive weeks, it also made it to #1 on the POP Channel International Chart and the MTV International Chart in Thailand. It has been staying strong as the #1 position on these three charts.[21][22] In November 29, 2008 Super Junior and the rest of the SM will come to Thailand for their first SMTOWN Live '08 concert in Bangkok, Thailand.

Since 2007, Siwon was chosen to be the endorser for 12 Plus Powder, and has been periodically filming commercials in Thailand. Kibum and Donghae was also included in these commercial with Siwon, but in different products. Coming soon in this fall Kyuhyun will also going to be in a 12plus commercial with Siwon and Toey. Fall in 2008, they also did a Yamaha Fino commercial with a Thailand popular artist called Golf Mike. Yesung and Kibum was not included in these commercial. Super Junior were also appointed as goodwill ambassadors for the 2008 Korea and Thailand 50th Anniversary, honoring the good relationship Korea has with Thailand in the past fifty years.[44]

The group held their first concert in Bangkok on July 12, 2008 in the Impact Arena as part of the second stop of the group's first Asia tour. Once sales released the tickets were sold out quickly and the group performed in a full house.

Super Junior's third album comeback

In July 2008, the group announced that Super Junior will end subgroup activities at the end of the year and will come together to prepare for their third studio album, which is slated to release in 2009.[40] Leeteuk and Eunhyuk confirmed in their radio show in November that the album will be released around the spring. On November 13, 2008, Kyuhyun wrote in his fancafe stating that he is currently preparing for the third album "bit by bit" and the fans in Korea will be seeing more of the group in the upcoming year

Overseas expansion

On October 2, 2007, SM Entertainment officially announced a third Super Junior sub-unit, Super Junior-M, a subgroup designated for the Chinese market.[32][33] The announcement of the new sub-unit created a controversy between the fans and the management as fans did not support the management to add new members to the subgroup.[e] A fourth Super Junior sub-unit was created that same year as well to prevent the group from fading away in the Korean music industry since half of the group have pursued their goals to China. With five members from Super Junior-T and Yesung, they formed the subgroup, Super Junior-Happy.

Super Junior's first major tour, The 1st ASIA TOUR - "Super Show, commenced on February 22 to February 24 in Seoul.[34][35][36][f] The tour will cover nine different cities, including Bangkok, Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.[35][33][37]

On August 2, 2008, Super Junior expanded their routes to Genting Highlands, Malaysia, being one of the top guest performers at the MTV Asia Awards 2008 along with other international performing artists such as OneRepublic and the Jabbawockeez.[38] They are the third SM artist to win Favorite Artist Korea at the MTV Asia Awards after Kangta and BoA.[38]

On September 25, 2008, SM Entertainment announced the comeback of Super Junior-T to be in Japan, pushing the group into the Japanese market. The subgroup released their first Japanese single, "ROCK&GO", with the support of Japanese comedy duo Moeyan on November 5, 2008 in Japan.[39]

Dont Don Album

Heechul's fracture of the femur from a car accident on August 10, 2006 and the April 19 car accident prevented the group's second official album, Don't Don from being released until September 20, 2007.[23][24] The group performed their first performance for the album on September 21, 2007, promoting the first single "Don't Don" at KBS's Music Bank. It was their first performance in which the group performed together as thirteen after a whole year.[25]. The single rose quickly in music charts a week after release, winning its first recognition, the SBS Popular Songs Mutizen Song, on October 21, 2007[26] and later on M.NET's M!Countdown, sharing the #1 song of the week along with "Everyday" by V.O.S in November.[27] The group quickly moved to their second single, "Marry U", in November. However, that single did not meet the achievements that "Don't Don" had set.[5]

Within the first three days of release, offline album sales for Don't Don passed the 11,000 unit mark, debuting as #1 in all available offline charts, and was in close competition with Lee Soo Young's Set It Down and Wheesung's eternal essence of music WHEESUNG 5 that were released earlier in September. It finished the September monthly album sales as number one, surpassing both Lee Soo Young and Wheesung. 60,000 units were shipped by the first week of release and additional copies were printed.[28] After three months of release, Don't Don sold 164,058 copies, making it Super Junior's best-selling album. It was also the second best-selling album of 2007, falling 26,940 copies short of SG Wannabe's The Sentimental Chord.[29][3][c]

Supported by the release of Don't Don, Super Junior was nominated in seven separate categories at the 2007 M.NET/KM Music Festival that was held on November 17, 2007. Super Junior won three of those categories including Netizen Choice Award and Mobile Popularity, being the biggest winner of the night. The group also won Best Artist of the Year (Daesang), termed by many as the highest recognition of the ceremony.[30] Super Junior collected two more awards on December 14, 2007 at the 2007 Golden Disk Awards, an awards ceremony based on record sales success.[31] Although defeated by SG Wannabe in winning the Daesang, Super Junior won a Bonsang and the TPL Anycall Popularity Award, which were reported as expected wins for the group by the media after the success of Don't Don.

On May 23, 2006, SM Entertainment revealed a new member Kyuhyun, who was discovered through a singing competition in 2005, as the thirteenth and youngest member. The new thirteen-member group released their new single, "U" online for free download on May 25, 2006 in Super Junior's official website. "U" had over 400 thousand downloads within five hours of release and it ultimately exceeded 1.7 million downloads, crashing the server.[14][15] The CD single "U" with a total of three tracks was officially released on June 6, 2006, eventually selling over 81,000 units by 2007, selling more than their first album.[16] During this time, an official fanclub was created for the group, E.L.F., an alphabetism derived from the phrase "Ever-lasting Friends."[5] Super Junior's official color became pearl sapphire blue.[5][d] "U" (2006)

The title song "U" yielded number-one spots for five consecutive weeks on two of Korea's top music programs for the first time in the group's career. The song was crowned as SBS Popular Songs Mutizen Song on the second week of release, being the first award for the group since debut.[17] The song then stayed as Mutizen Song for three consecutive weeks on the same program, also simultaneously grabbing two top awards from M.NET's M!Countdown for two weeks. Before promotions for "U" ended, "Dancing Out" was released on July 20, 2006 as part of SMTown's annual summer album, grabbing two awards as soon as it was released.[18] "U" gained critical success, and Super Junior collected over seven awards in five of South Korea's top music award ceremonies as 2006 came to a close, winning Best New Group and popularity awards.

As 2007 approached, the group began to branch out to different splinter groups. Super Junior-K.R.Y, the first subgroup of Super Junior that debuted on November 5, 2006, began to give separate performances away from the group to promote their new songs in the latter months of 2006.[19] In February arrived a second subgroup, Super Junior-T.[20] In March, several members of Super Junior participated in an original soundtrack for the first time, singing the opening and ending themes "Success" and "H.I.T" for the Korean miniseries, H.I.T. On April 19, 2007, four members of Super Junior, Leeteuk, Shindong, Eunhyuk, and Kyuhyun, were injured in a car accident that deeply affected the group's schedules and progress throughout the year. Being the most injured, Kyuhyun was not discharged from the hospital until four months later, therefore unable to participate in the group's single for SMTown, "Full of Happiness" (행복) that was released in July. Nonetheless, the cover from the former boy band H.O.T accelerated quickly in singles charts in both South Korea and Thailand and soon became a number-one hit in Thailand's international charts a month later.[21][22]

2005–2006: The Super Junior project

Super Junior 05 made their debut television appearance on SBS's Popular Songs on November 6, 2005, performing their first single, "TWINS (Knock Out)." A digital single with "TWINS (Knock Out)", "You are the one", and three additional tracks were released online on November 8, 2005. A CD single was scheduled to be released in November but a more complete album, SuperJunior05 (TWINS), was released on December 5, 2005 instead. Their debut album sold 28,536 copies in the first month of release and debuted at #3 in the monthly chart of December 2005.[11][c] In that same month, their collaborated single with TVXQ, "Show Me Your Love," was released. "Show Me Your Love" became the best-selling record of December 2005, selling almost 50,000 copies.[11]

After "Show Me Your Love" promotions were finished, Super Junior 05 promoted their second single from their debut album "Miracle," in February 2006. "Miracle" was the group's first single to peak at #1 on different music charts of South Korea as well as international charts from overseas countries, such as Thailand. It was their last single to be promoted from SuperJunior05 (TWINS).

As promotions for "Miracle" slowly came to an end, SM Entertainment decided to begin Super Junior's line-up project by replacing some of the original members with new ones. After Super Junior 05, Super Junior 06, the second generation, would debut, and the label had begun to take actions to announce the new members. However, after the mysterious addition of a thirteenth member, the company abandoned the line-up project and the group became known as just Super Junior, without the suffix "05".
